I’ve been asked to do a “formal bio/ 200 words” for the web page.  I was quickly reminded how long-winded I am and how hard that is to do.  Well, here goes………….my memory goes back to age 7…….At that age I was Hoppalong Cassidy and I was a neighborhood problem……Then grade school and high school…..not so good….off to University of Colorado (Coors Beer)………… better…..USMC…..ok……then off to work in family textile business……married Sherry……built house, took trips, lived large and worked hard to buy all kinds of stuff.

Then 1976….. I met Jesus Christ……Big, huge, gigantic change!  Found what I had been looking for, for 35 years….decided to “go for it”…..my business was successful and this gave me flexibility to cultivate my passion to follow our Lord….Took a bunch of Bible and seminary courses….got involved in some local ministries and church….and began to talk to men about God.

1997 sold business, joined Priority One Foundation to “go full time”…..since then the biggest part of my ministry has been, and is now, learning to and struggling with “abiding and remaining”  in our Lord (John 15)…..learning how to hear Him, how to discern His callings as He allows me the wonderful privilege of working with men…..telling them about all He has taught me, shown me, and done in me so far….I love to teach God’s Word….I love to talk to men about God stuff…..and I love the incredible excitement of having a real relationship with the living God.

This rare blend of business acumen and a heart for ministry has made Alex a valuable part of Priority One.  He is involved in small groups, discipleship, and Bible studies.  He also organizes seminars, conferences, and retreats in the Reading/ Lancaster area and speaks at men’s retreats.

Alex is very involved in the Reading community, including Bridge of Hope, Aloe Fellowship, Freedom Gate Ministries, and his church.

Alex has been married for 41 years and has 3 children and 6 grandchildren.  His wife, Sherry, is a psychologist and an occupational therapist.  Alex’s hobbies are cycling, motorcycles, fly-fishing, reading, traveling, and naps.

I’ve also been asked to do an “informal bio/ 200 words/ What I do for fun”. First off…..I like fun! At 13 my Dad bought me a pickup truck and my love of motor anything began. Raced motorcycles through college (not very well), raced cars – first road racing, then modified stock cars and sprint cars (also not very well). Then quit and farmed 125 acres as a hobby….lost more money then racing…….. but the equipment (many motors) was great.

Next phase…..fly fishing (I am worse then “not very well”) but still enjoy it…..running (okay) (liked all the running shoes)……motorcycle touring, still a big deal for me…..and bicycle riding also still big……..a lot of “self stuff”.

Throughout the above….my family grew and I enjoyed some “family stuff” a lot. especially travel, which my wife, Sherry, taught me to do and love……many trips all over the world during which I got to enjoy and know my children and wife. In addition, Sherry taught me to read, and I enjoy reading all kinds of stuff….But I have to say, family, 3 wonderful daughters and 3 wonderful son-in-laws (who took those wonderful daughters off my hands and payroll), and 6 grandchildren are a big highlight on the “fun” word (in controlled doses – always remembering “only in moderation” is key).

Lastly, the Lord has taught me what real enjoyment is…..having a close relationship with the One that made me, loves me unconditionally, and has all kinds of great things to tell me, show me and teach me. Most fun of all is when He invites me to go with Him as He continues to do the same exact things He did when He walked this Earth…….I’m not talking Billy Graham or Mother Teresa stuff, I’m talking little stuff even I can do in His power, but hey, it is really fun and exciting and really fulfilling.
