It's hard not to notice John Groth. He possesses a rare concern and compassion for men and the challenges they face.
His many years in ministry give him not only the ability to teach and lead well, but to understand the real struggles that men face in their lives. His warm and engaging manner, along with an ever present sense of humor and excitement about life, make him highly effective in reaching, challenging and encouraging men in any setting.
Priority One - New Jersey/Delaware was formed in September of 2000 to serve the many men in the Central New Jersey area who were already committed to Priority One and to begin to reach out to many others throughout the region.
John, a decorated Air Force Chaplain (Lt Col) currently serving on active duty at Dover AFB in support of Operations, a respected former pastor and graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Ursinus College leads the DE/NJ work that has been visionary and far reaching.
An excellent speaker and teacher, John actively seeks opportunities to share his faith with groups large and small. Convinced that the local church must play the pivotal role in men’s ministry, he effectively helps churches establish meaningful, sustainable men’s ministries that grow the entire church!

John and Ranelle, married for 27 years, live in Newark, DE, with their three children, Erin, John and Shannon. Their dog, Todd, completes the family. John’s interests include traveling with the Air Force, golfing, reading, going to movies, practical jokes, e-mailing, and humor-filled times eating meals with family and friends.
John's ministry through Priority One centers on leading men to Christ and discipling them in their faith. Pastors are being encouraged and challenged in their tough ministries. Congregations are being treated to humorous, hard-hitting, Christ-centered messages at men's weekends, prayer breakfasts and worship services.
John draws from his experiences as an Eagle Scout, volunteer fireman, husband, father, pastor, military chaplain and school teacher. He has taken trips into combat zones and has a sobering ministry at the Dover Air Force Base Department of Defense Mortuary. These experiences enable him to reach men! This ministry powerfully transforms them, their friendships, their marriages, their families and their churches.
Though still answering the nation's call to pastor the troops, John continues to lead Priority One small groups, meets with men individually and speaks at men’s church events. Call or e-mail if you’d like John to speak at your event or to visit him at Dover AFB.
