Background

I grew up in Northern Indiana and graduated from Jimtown High School in 1989. I attended Indiana University where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I served in the United States Marine Corps from 1993-1997 and had the chance to visit sixteen (16) different countries including a one (1) year stint in Keflavik, Iceland. While I was on leave from the USMC, I met my wife Robin and we were married in 1995 in Washington DC. Robin and I have a blended family with five (5) children ranging from 32 to 17. There is no doubt that I “outkicked my coverage” when I married Robin. She is a wonderful wife and Mom that loves people and supports all of my crazy endeavors.

I was hired by the Elkhart Police Department in 1998 and am the 3rd generation that served on the EPD. I worked as a Patrol officer, Detective, ATF Task Force Officer, EPD Chaplains Board Member and a member of the SWAT team. In 2018, I retired from the EPD and we transitioned to where we live in Sarasota County, Florida. Since moving to Florida, I have been with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrol Deputy and Detective.

Faith Walk: I grew up in church, but God radically changed my life at a Marked Men for Christ weekend in 2006. At that point, Robin and I had been married for 10-1/2 years and if I’m really honest, I was a pretty poor husband and father. I was self-centered, angry, bitter, and focused on what I could achieve. The MMFC weekend gave me an authentic encounter with the Holy Spirit and gave me greater clarity on why I was alive. I realized that I had been “playing church” and needed to chase after my Heavenly Father with the same passion and enthusiasm that I chased after my worldly goals. I am currently a MMFC Senior Co-Leader and MMFC Florida State director. God has blessed me immensely by giving me the chance to walk alongside men as they seek the healing power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Robin and I attended Grace Community Church in Goshen, Indiana for several years. GCC has a dynamic men’s ministry and a focal point is called Fight Club. FC carries the flavor of what men desire: camaraderie, competition, and challenge. FC will push men to reach new levels with Jesus and link arms in real accountability. FC is a men’s discipleship resource developed by men, for men, to reach men- to turn the tide on mediocrity and cause men to stand and say “not on my watch!” Myself and a group of men from South West Florida have implemented FC in our area and have seen men develop authentic gut-level relationships with other men and grow intellectually, spiritually, physically and relationally. FC is building community and connection among God’s men in SW Florida.

Brian's Interests

I love traveling and spending time with my wife and family at the beach. Robin and I host many of our friends at our home in Florida and love being able to give them a place to connect, refresh and recharge. I am a people person through and through. I love spending time one-on-one with men and challenging men to relentlessly chase after Jesus and live into their redemptive potential as the leader of their home, family and community.
